Club Personnel including committee members, umpires, coaches and players are reminded that persons with bicycles, prams, pushchairs, skates, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters or dogs may be asked to remove them from between the courts while games are in progress.

Skateboards, Bikes, Scooters, Rollerblades are not to be ridden on the coloured compound surfaces - damage is being caused by scraping and gouging - please use this equipment on any other areas of asphalted courts.

Spectators are requested in the interests of player and umpire safety, not to bring dogs to the netball courts during the playing

season.

SMOKEFREE ENVIRONMENT  - the area designated smokefree at Hagley Netball Courts has extended to include all areas of the designated carpark and within 20 metres of court-side of the building including the tiered seating.  Please go to the Policies page to read the entire Smokefree Policy.

Positive Sideline Supporters

The Christchurch Netball Centre continues to maintain and monitor Positive Sideline Support for all players, coaches and umpires.    Netball Centre volunteers will be roaming the courts and observing incidents of behaviour not acceptable and will be speaking to those people concerned.    For all incidents of positive behaviour the reward itself is seeing positive behaviour, observing good sportsmanship and fair play at all times.

Everyone has a role
Coaches, players, umpires and supporters all have a role in upholding the principles of fair play and positive support.

Umpires should:

  • Be trained in the game's rules and applying them fairly and consistently
  • Encourage fair play
  • Always be firm but friendly
  • Help players to understand the rules
  • Enforce disciplinary action appropriate to the level of misconduct

Players should:

  • Understand the rules before starting the game
  • Play fair and within the game's rules
  • Respect the umpire's call by not challenging their decision
  • Respect their opponents.

Coaches should:

  • Emphasise the guidelines of fair play to all players
  • Make sure all players know the rules
  • Accept all calls by the umpire and do not trying to influence them
  • Speak out against violence, poor behaviour and cheating
  • Respect the officials and their decisions.

Parents/supporters should:

  • Respect the umpires and their decisions
  • Respect the team coaches and their decisions
  • Encourage the all players to play fair
  • Support their team positively.

Good sport is about positive attitude
