Christchurch Netball Centre Junior Netball Academy .......
GIVE YOUR CHILD THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE - the Academy is open to both boys and girls aged 8 - 15 years.
The Junior Netball Academy has been set up to give young netballers the chance to have specific and individual netball coaching on a regular basis throughout the year. The Academy will develop the foundation skills required by young players to assist them to progress to the top of their sport.
Junior Academy History
The Curriculum, which is designed to run for three terms of 8-9 weeks (sessions) per year, is divided into eight levels with three modules in each level. Each session is written in detail for the coaches to follow and has been developed to progressively teach the skills appropriate to participants age and ability levels. Each session reinforces the skills of the previous session and builds on these. In this way skill development happens across the sessions rather than through a single session.
Each session is fast paced, interesting and fun for the players. Participants are taught the importance of warm ups and cooling down and in between cover movement skills and fitness, ball skills, shooting, attacking and defending. A modified game at the end of each session gives the participants the opportunity to get some hands on practice of the skills they have learned in the session.”
Block Two of 2013 is now underway with 80 players on their way to improve their Netball Skills.

Player Development Steps
To ensure that players are able to reach the elite level of netball it is important that coaches are aware of the developmental guidelines. The focus of training prior to the age of 19 years should be on training the player to train. This means that these years are best spent developing and improving skills.PDGNetballNZ
