Welcome all to the 2013 competition - team numbers are looking healthy again this year so good to see so many players, coaches, umpires and spectators on and off court at Hagley Park. Premier 1 and 2 competitions are beingheld indoors at Pioneer Stadium and St Margarets gymnasium on Tuesday evenings. We are excited to be able to 'show-case' our talented players inside on good quality wooden floors. These games are timed for 6.30pm and 8.00pm and there is no entrance fee charged - get along and see some good quality netball on display. This of course means that our Senior competition outdoors at Hagley, will receive increased promotion and support, this year from New World. Future Ferns and the associated Whistlers programmes are again on offer in 2013 as is Nettabury on Sunday mornings at Hagley Park ensuring many youngsters and their parents/carers participated in these activities each week. Nettabury is undergoing some changes to its structure with modified games being offered to the older children in attendance and we will be seeking feedback on that later in the season. Thanks to an amazing bunch of guys at Fulton & Hogan and Paul and his crew from Kiwicourts Decoturf we are up and running on 18 newly surfaced and improved realigned courts this season. This has been a major exercise and we thank all involved who ensured the project was completed on time - it has been a challenge but something all parties have embraced positively. We hope those players who get to play on these courts do enjoy the experience and do give some thought as to how this has been accomplished due to the financial support of the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal Trust and other funders.
There are many years of experience, wisdom, expertise and passion around the board table, and Board members are working at a governance level with all operational matters being handled by the Competitions Committee, Game Development Committee and Game Officials Committee. It is extremely exciting to see so many fresh faces brimming with ideas and enthusiasm working on these committees - these are the people who are passionate and are giving back to their sport in other ways - they are the ones who are responsible for the delivery of netball to the players, coaches, umpires and officials. Thanks to all those who are involved and give so much support, positive feedback and willingly assisted when and where asked - if it wasn't for club administrators, coaches and supporters the players would not enjoy a quality product - our game - netball.
