Whistlers

Whistlers is a great place to start for rangatahi who aspire to gain experience as umpires.
budding young umpires Year 8 up – no experience is necessary.

Whistlers umpire either on a Thursday or Friday after school, or a Saturday morning – they can choose. The sessions start with a theory rules session and then the umpires go outside and umpire Year 5-6 to U13 games depending on their level and ability.  Each group of 4 Whistlers has a coach who is there to give advice and assistance.

Thursday/Friday whistlers and helpers meet upstairs in the Oak Room at 3.30 pm starting with a rules session.  We will focus on 1 or 2 specific rules each week. Whistlers will then go out to umpire games at 4 p.m.

Saturday 1st year whistlers and helpers meet upstairs in the Oak Room at 8am for a rules session.  We focus on 1 or 2 specific rules each week.  Whistlers will then go out to umpire at 8.40 a.m.

Saturday 2nd year whistlers and helpers meet upstairs in the Oak Room at 8.50am for a rules session. We focus on 1 or 2 specific rules each week.  Whistlers will then go out to umpire at 9.35am.

Recruiting | New Whistler Coaches | No experience needed

The Whistlers Program is in need of your services to help coach 1st year Whistlers on a Saturday morning.

1st year Whistlers are 6v6 games and start at 8.40am finish at 9.20am.

We try to have all our coaches as qualified umpires.

This is a way to help young people learn to umpire the sport which we all love, and help them move through to umpire more senior games.

For further information and to become a coach please contact

Pam Ormandy at whistlers@cnc.org.nz or on 021 119 9439.

Your help will be very much appreciated.
