Youth Advisory Group | Christchurch Netball Centre

The purpose of Christchurch Netball Centre’s Youth Advisory Group (YAG) is to hear and share the voice of rangatahi in sport.

Christchurch Netball Centre has established a Youth Advisory Group, the objective of our group is to hear and share the voice of the youth participant at the Christchurch Netball Centre, in alignment with the Centre’s strategic plan.  We aim to provide a safe space for young people to share their thoughts on how their netball experience can be improved and share these with those who can make recommendations for change and act on them where we have the scope to. We look forward to creating and sharing opportunities to suit our youth participants. We want to engage with youth from all aspects of netball including playing, officiating, and coaching. There are many ways to get involved in netball as well as opportunities to learn and earn NNZ awards through the NNZ Leaders Programme.

Our Yag member achieved their NNZ Netball Leaders Bronze Awards in 2022 and was recently awarded their NNZ Netball Leaders Silver Award presented to them by Suzy Campbell Participation Lead – Netball Mainland. We look forward to them working towards their Gold this season. Come and meet the team this Saturday!

I’m Lottie and I am the convenor of the Christchurch Netball Centre Youth Advisory Group (YAG). I am 17 years old and a year 13 student at Burnside High School. I played netball for Merrin Netball Club during primary school and have played for both Technical and Burnside High School in recent years. I have been playing netball since I was 8 years old and have been involved in the CNC community in several different ways which include playing, umpiring, whistler coaching, team coaching and being a future ferns assistant. I have a passion for netball, and love finding ways to make netball more enjoyable for everyone. I joined the YAG to ensure the youth voice is heard and to engage more youth in netball.
