Riccarton Knights win title

Knights Netball Riccarton has won the Grand Final of the B Grade Christchurch Netball Centre Men's Netball Competition.

Knights had been unbeaten all season and came up against closest rivals Kaiawa B in the final. Kaiawa had their best performance against the favourites, but it was Knights who won 54-44, maintaining a lead throughout the game.

Knights Coach, Kana Shedlock, was full of praise for her players.

'I am super proud of my team', she said. 'They have all shown all the aspects and skills to be great netballers. Coming into this tournament with a mixture of talents from a vast variety of codes - league, rugby, basketball, indoor netball, outdoor netball and also a couple that had never played the game we call netball!'

'My main goal as a coach was to create a family based culture to combine all those codes together to move as one like a well oiled machine. The results had spoken for themselves as we went through the competition undefeated and then fighting through an awesome final to take the win', she said.

CNC Chair Anna Galvan was one of the many spectators that filled the stadium on Friday night. 'The skill and athleticism shown by the players was outstanding', she said.

The A grade final will be played as the curtain raiser to The Good Oil Tactix game against the Northern Mystics in round 15 on Sunday 25 July. Doors at Christchurch Arena open at 1.30pm, with the game starting at 1.50pm.
