What has the Game Development Committee been up to?

The key focus for the Game Development Committee (GDC) is Tupuranga – a place to grow together.

We have been providing some great development opportunities that we have had fun creating and working onfor our players, coaches and managers through the 2022season. Some of our successes:

  • Delivering our Summer Camp where we get athletes, coaches and umpires developing alongside each other – a great example of total game development. Having Leigh Gibbs join us in 2022 as the coach lead was both insightful and exciting.
  • A very successful Representative season. We have guided a total of 84 athletes, 14 coaches and 7 managers through a busy but productive season.  Winning the U18 National title on home soil was something that our whole Centre can be very proud of.  Also being part of two inaugural Tournaments was exciting for us this year - the NNZ Open Nationals where we finished 5th and our U16 A Team taking out the A grade tittle and the U16 Black Team taking out the B grade tittle at the U16 Tupuranga Championship.
  • Community coaching weekends where we offer like-minded people to come together over three days to work through modules on the Netball NZ Coaching Pathway. A fun and informative weekend, that we have high attendance at.
  • Delivering two representative tournaments – U16 Tupuranga Championship in collaboration with Mid Canterbury Netball Centre and the tournament now formally know as the U18 Queen’s Birthday Tournament.
  • Our mid court roadshow concept proved successful with over 35 in attendance – coaches, players and umpires, again all learning together.

But what more could we do??  What could we do differently?? Do you have some great ideas and want to be part of this exciting, progressive and pro-active committee?  If so, we would love to hear from you.  We are looking for committee members who want to help develop the game for everyone and have new and innovative ideas to bring to the courts!!

To discuss further, please contact Kelly who is the staff member on this committee and see if you want to take the next step.  We look forward to hearing from you.
