It's National Volunteer Week from 17-23 June.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of CNC's valuable volunteers as well as all those who volunteer throughout our Centre as coaches, umpires and Club officials.
Clubs were asked to nominate their valued volunteers for recognition during this time.
It is our pleasure to recognise the winning nomination: Tash Austin, nominated by Hornby Netball Club
Tash Austin belongs to the Hornby Netball Club. She joined the committee in 2013 at that same time she coached her oldest daughters Future Fern Hawks team. Tash has remained on our club committee ever since. She has been an integral part of the club. Tash has been our Junior Contact person for all our Future Fern teams since 2013. She has also spent the last 2 years helping out at Christchurch Netball Centre as a Junior Coordinator and a grader. Tash continues to coach her daughters' (of which there are 3) teams as various stages of their playing. Tash arrives at Christchurch Netball Centre every Saturday morning around 8am for the 15 weeks of competition and is usually one of the last to leave at 4pm. Her dedication to the club and to growing the game of netball in Hornby is nothing short of commendable. Tash also manages to play in a social ladies team when her coaching does not clash with playing times. If Tash is not coaching she is usually managing her daughters' teams. In her capacity on the committee Tash has become very knowledgeable about our uniforms and is always available to lend a helping hand to issue them out and help with the stocktake at the end of the season. Tash is a reliable member of our committee and we are very lucky to have her helping to promote Netball for our Club.
There are many of the girls who live in Hornby that Tash has coached over the years. With being a teacher aid at Hornby Primary School, Tash knows plenty of the girls in the club and she has a real positive influence on their lives. Her kind, loving nature and the way she communicates with all players and parents stands her in good stead for the future. Tash is a very well respected player, coach and committee member of Hornby Netball Club. Many of the young girls that Tash has coached over these last few years are now also giving back to the club in the form of coaching. Tash has been a good influence on these girls and to have so many coaching this year is attribute to Tash and the great work she continues to do with them.
Congratulations Tash! What a wonderful asset Tash is to both Hornby and netball in Christchurch.
