Christchurch's Premier League Netball competition starts Tuesday


Premier netball gets underway in Christchurch on Tuesday.  

2018 Christchurch Netball Centre competition winners Technical Netball Club go into this season looking to back up their title win last year. They are likely to face competition for this year’s title from last year’s runners up Lincoln University and Kereru. Technical plays Saints in the opening round at 8.05pm at Bishopdale. Kereru will face St Nicholas in the opening match at Bishopdale alongside Lincoln University and Kia Toa. Kia Toa A joins Premier 1 competition after promotion from winning the Premier 2 competition last year.

In Premier 2 competition, top seeded Kereru B open their season against Marist A who were promoted after winning the Senior 1 competition. St Nicholas B will play UC A and and Villa Maria A will play Technical B.

Premier competition follows two Sundays of Inter Centre combined competition with teams from Christchurch Netball Centre, Mid Canterbury Netball Centre, North Canterbury Netball Centre, South Canterbury Netball and Selwyn Netball Centre. Competition was hosted by Mid Canterbury Netball Centre at the EA Networks stadium in Ashburton.

Saturday will see netball back at the Hagley Netball courts with the traditional Second Grade Tournament and age grade competition for Under 15 to Under 12 teams. Saturday competition returns for all grades on Saturday 4 May. Juniors commence from Thursday, 2 May.
