Under 19 Representative team runners up in Auckland


Auckland Netball Centre held its annual Representative tournament on Sunday 9 June.

Christchurch Netball Centre sent three representative teams: Under 19, Under 17 Red and Under 17 Black. All teams are in preparations for Nationals in July.

The Under 19 side coached by Andrea Cousins and Helen Belcher made a strong start, winning their first three matches comfortably against Pukekohe (31-18), Eastern Waikato (35-23) and Invercargill (21-15).

This earnt the side a well deserved semi final place against Auckland. In an absolute nailbiter, CNC's Under 19s came away with the win by one 30-29.

The final was just as dramatic against Howick Pakuranga with just one also separating the teams at the final whistle. While the results was in Howick Pakuranga's favour (25-26), the Christchurch team had fought back from 7 goals down at one stage.

Under 17 Red had three games winning two against North Harbour (28-18) and Hamilton City (25-16), before meeting a very impressive Auckland side (9-41). While in the other section of Under 17, Under 17 Black made the final following wins against North Harbour (28-19), Thames Valley (26-24) and Pukekohoe (25-16). In the Under 17 White final Eastern Bay of Plenty were too good on the day winning 12-28.
