2026 JUNIOR COACH WORKSHOP DATES

futureFERNS – Message for Coaches

Please note the following requirements for the upcoming season:

  • Coaches returning to the same age group as last year are not required to attend a workshop. However, you are encouraged to attend if you can.
  • Coaches moving to a new age group are required to attend either a Coaching Day or the relevant age group workshop.
  • All coaches are required to attend the Hui (Competition Information Session).
  • Coaches are strongly encouraged to attend the NetballSmart session. NetballSmart content will be covered in all workshops and coaching days.

futureFERNS Year Groups:

Year 1–2 (4 v 4)

Introduces Netball through simple skills, fun activities, and lots of touches on the ball.

Year 3–4 (5 v 5)

Fast, fun, and easy to understand with modified equipment and fewer players.

Year 5–6 (6 v 6)

Three straightforward positions, increased touches, and strong skill development.

Year 7–8 (7 v 7)

Players move into the full game with a focus on technique, challenge, and fair positional rotation.
