Honouring Volunteers and Celebrating Service to CNC

We wish to congratulate the dedicated volunteers of Christchurch Netball Centre who were honoured at the CNC Annual General Meeting in 2023.

Excellence in Professional Service – Greg Knight

CNC Service Awards – Karen Jamieson and Margaret Western

CNC Life Membership – Helen Timms

Margaret Western

Margaret Western first came to Christchurch Netball as a U16 Representative Manager in 2010 and her involvement continued with representatives in various roles through to 2019. Since 2013 she has also been a dedicated and enthusiastic bench official achieving New Zealand qualifications and an award. Margaret is currently on the Game Development Committee and loves being involved with Hearts St Peters Netball Club.

Helen Timms
Helen Timms' service to netball started in 1979, and to this day she has continued to be a vital and enthusiastic member of our Christchurch Netball community. In that time, Helen has achieved many qualifications in umpiring and as a bench official. Helen still supports and encourages our young future umpires as well as assisting with delivery of rules sessions as well as volunteering as a bench official (since 2006) on Tuesdays and Saturdays. During this time Helen has been actively involved in the Umpires Office (2006-08), as an Umpires Allocator (2009-10) and on the Game Officials committee (2010).

Karen Jamieson

Karen Jamieson first turned up at netball in the 1990’s as a player but then was soon roped into being a volunteer due to her passion for the game and her willingness to give her time, energy and enthusiasm. She has such great generosity of spirit and can-do attitude. She has been a grader for 13 years and her helpfulness in the office as part of Competition Committee (2018-22) is legendary. Karen is well known at the courts as she is there all day every Saturday – always helping out where needed, always with a smile.
