Child Safeguarding at Our Netball Clubs & Schools
At our Centre, the safety and wellbeing of every child and young person involved in Netball is our highest priority. Guided by Netball New Zealand’s commitment to safeguarding, we recognise our responsibility to ensure Netball remains a fun, safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for all tamariki and rangatahi.
As the kaitiaki (guardians) of our community, we are dedicated to promoting safe practices that protect children and young people from harm and exploitation. All staff, volunteers, coaches, managers, umpires, and those working with our clubs and schools are expected to uphold our safeguarding standards and champion a culture where children feel respected, listened to, and supported.
Policies and procedures are designed to:
- Reduce the likelihood of harm occurring
- Provide clear guidance for recognising, responding to, reporting, and recording concerns
- Minimise the risk of allegations or complaints
- Ensure consistent safeguarding practices across all clubs and schools
- Support safe, positive environments where children can thrive
Every club and school affiliated with our Centre is required to follow these safeguarding expectations and maintain a minimum standard of child protection practices in line with NNZ’s Safe Netball for Children framework.
